Autumn Covid and Flu Vaccinations

We will shortly be inviting eligible patients for flu and covid vaccinations this autumn.  Both vaccination programmes begin from the 1st of October 2025.  If you receive an invitation but do not wish to have the vaccination, please let us know via AccuRx.

There have been significant changes to the eligibility criteria for Covid vaccination this Autumn as announced by the Department of Health, and the groups below are the only patients we are able to offer a vaccine to:

  1. Adults aged 75 and over
  2. Residents in care home for older adults
  3. Individuals who are immunosuppressed over the age of 12 years old.

 

The immunosuppression criteria are as follows:

  • Organ, bone marrow or stem cell transplant recipients
  • Receiving regular high dose oral steroid medication
  • HIV patients
  • Patients receiving biological or immunosuppressive medication from hospital specialists – ie. Methotrexate, Azathioprine, Sulfasalazine
  • Patients currently receiving radiotherapy or chemotherapy
  • Patients with long term treatment for immunosuppression such as splenomegaly
  • Any history of haematological cancer – lymphoma, leukaemia’s
  • Any genetic disorder that affects the immune system – mitochondrial or chromosomal abnormalities.
